Patella

The patella is a small, triangular bone located anterior to the knee joint. It's a sesamoid bone.

It is divided into: Base (wide and upper) and Apex (pointed and lower).

Front Face

  • is convex

Back Face

  • Features a smooth, oval joint area

Proximal Edge – is thick and can be called BASE

Medial Edge – is thin and converges distally

Lateral Border – is thin and converges distally

The Patella articulates with the Femur.
