The thigh muscles can be watered in 3 regions:

  • Anterolateral Region
  • Later Region
  • Posteromedial Region

Anterolateral Region

Tensor Muscle of the Fascia Can 1. CAN FASIA TENSOR

Proximal Insertion: Iliac Crest and EIAS

Distal Insertion: Ileobacterial tract

Innervation: Superior Gluteus Nerve (L4 & #8211; S1)

Action: Flexion, Abduction and Medial Hip Rotation and Lateral Knee Rotation

 

 

Sartorius Muscle2. SARTORY

Proximal Insertion: Anterior superior iliac spine

Distal Insertion: Medial surface of the tibial tuberosity (goose paw)

Innervation: Femoral Nerve (L2 & #8211; L3)

Action: Flexion, Abduction and Lateral Rotation of the Thigh and Flexion and Medial Rotation of the Knee

 

 

Quadriceps Femoral Muscle - VastQuadriceps Femoral Muscle - Straight Femoral3. FEMORAL QUADRICE

Proximal Insertion:
Previous Straight: Anterior inferior iliac spine
Vastus lateralis: Greater trochanter, rough line, intertrochanteric line and gluteal tuberosity
Vast Medial: Rough Line and Intertrochanteric Line
Vast Intermediate: 2/3 proximal to anterior and lateral femur and ½ distal to rough line

Distal Insertion: Patella and, through the patellar ligament, in the anterior tibial tuberosity

Innervation: Femoral Nerve (L2 & #8211; L4)

Action: Knee Extension and Femoral Rectum perform Hip Flexion. The vastus medialis performs medial rotation and the vastus lateralis performs lateral rotation

 

 

Later Region

Biceps Femoral Muscle - Long PortionBiceps Femoral Muscle - Short Portion1. FEMORAL BICEPS

Proximal Insertion:
Longhead: Sciatic tuberosity and sacro-tuberous ligament
Short Head: Rough Line Side Lip

Distal Insertion: Fibula head and lateral tibial condyle

Innervation: Sciatic Nerve (L5 & #8211; S2), except L5 for long head

Action: Hip Extension, Knee Flexion and Knee Lateral Rotation

Semitendinous muscle2. SEMITENDINE

Proximal Insertion: Sciatic Tuberosity

Distal Insertion: Medial surface of the tibial tuberosity (goose paw)

Innervation: Ischial Nerve (L5 - S2)

Action: Hip Extension, Flexion and Medial Knee Rotation

 

 

Semimembranaceus Muscle 3. SEMEMBRANCE

Proximal Insertion: Sciatic Tuberosity

Dista Insertionl: Medial tibial condyle

Innervation: Ischial Nerve (L5 - S2)

Action: Hip Extension, Flexion and Medial Knee Rotation

                             

 ISCHIOTIBIALS
Biceps Femural + Semitendinosus + Semimembranaceous

Biceps Femoral Muscle - Long PortionBiceps Femoral Muscle - Short PortionSemetendinosus MuscleSemembrane Muscle

 

Post-Medial Region

Free muscle1. GRACIL

Proximal Insertion: Pubic symphysis and lower branch of pubis

Distal Insertion: Medial surface of the tibial tuberosity (goose paw)

Innervation: Obturator Nerve (L2 - L3)

Action: Thigh Adduction, Flexion and Medial Knee Rotation

 

 

 

Pectinus Muscle2. PECTIN

Proximal Insertion: Ilo-pectin eminence, pubic tubercle and upper branch of pubis

Distal Insertion: Femoral pectineal line

Innervation: Femoral Nerve (L2 & #8211; L4)

Action: Hip Flexion and Thigh Adduction

 

 

 

 

 

Long Adductor Muscle3. LONG ADDUCTOR

Proximal Insertion: Anterior surface of the pubis and pubic symphysis

Distal Insertion: Rough Line

Innervation: Obturatory Nerve (L2 & #8211; L4)

Action: Thigh Adduction

 

 

 

 

 

Short Adductor Muscle4. SHORT ADDUCTOR

Proximal Insertion: Lower pubis branch

Distal Insertion: Rough Line

Innervation: Obturatory Nerve (L2 & #8211; L4)

Action: Thigh Adduction

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adductor Muscle Magno5. MAGNE ADDUCTOR

Proximal Insertion: Sciatic tuberosity, pubis and ischium branch

Distal Insertion: Rough line and adductor tuber

Innervation: Obturatory Nerve (L2 & #8211; L4) and Ischial Nerve (L4 to S1)

Action: Thigh Adduction
