HIP

It is a spherical joint formed by the femoral head and the acetabulum cavity.

The ligaments that form this joint are:

Articular Capsule & #8211; The joint capsule is strong and thick and surrounds the entire hip joint. It is thicker in the proximal and anterior regions of the joint, where greater resistance is required. Posteriorly and distally it is slender and loose.

Iliofemoral Ligament & #8211; It is a very strong beam, located anterior to the joint. It is closely attached to the capsule and serves to reinforce it.

Pubofemoral Ligament & #8211; It is inserted into the obturator crest and upper branch of the pubis; distally, it fuses with the capsule and the deep face of the vertical bundle of the iliofemoral ligament.

Ischiofemoral Ligament & #8211; It consists of a triangular bundle of resistant fibers, which is born in the distal ischium and posterior to the acetabulum and fuses with the circular fibers of the capsule.

Femoral Head Ligament & #8211; It is a somewhat flattened triangular beam that fits into the apex of the fovea of the femoral head and into the notch of the acetabulum cavity. It has little function as a ligament and is sometimes absent.

Acetabular border & #8211; It is a fibrocartilage border inserted into the margin of the acetabulum, thus deepening this cavity. At the same time it protects and flattens the inequalities of its surface, thus forming a complete circle that surrounds the head of the femur and aids in its containment in its place.

Acetabulum Transverse Ligament & #8211; It is a part of the acetabular border, differing from this one because it does not have cartilage fibers between its fibers. It consists of strong flat fibers that cross the acetabular notch.
