hand bones

The hand is divided into: carpus, metacarpal and phalanges.

carpal bones

There are eight bones distributed in two rows: Proximal and Distal .

Proximal Row : Scaphoid , Lunate , Pyramidal and Pisiform

Distal Row : Trapezium , Trapezoid , Capitate and Hamate

Metacarpal Bones

It consists of 5 metacarpal bones that are numbered lateromedially as I , II , III , IV and V and correspond to the fingers of the hand. Considered long bones, they have a proximal epiphysis which is the base, a diaphysis (body) and a distal epiphysis which is the head.

Bones of the Finger

They have 14 phalanges:

From 2nd to 5th fingers :

1st Phalanx (Proximal)

2nd Phalanx (Average)

3rd Phalanx (Distal)
